The short answer
- Official Anthropic feature, released in beta in October 2026.
- Makes short animations from your content — text, charts, shapes and images.
- Built as code, not with a video model, so you can change one word or number and the rest stays put.
- Available on Team and Enterprise plans. Export to MP4 is built in.
What Claude Motion makes
Anthropic describes Claude Motion as a way to turn your content into short animations. The examples it gives are telling — these are work videos, not cinematic ones:
- An explainer for an all-hands meeting
- An animated chart for a board deck
- A product walkthrough for customer onboarding
Each animation is saved as an artifact in Claude’s Artifacts tab, plays like a short video, and can be exported as an MP4 or shared with teammates.
How it works
You describe the animation in a chat (or pick the Motion template in the Artifacts tab). Claude then writes the animation as code that moves the text, charts, shapes and images in it.
That design choice is the whole point. Because the result is code rather than generated pixels, you can ask for a precise change — “Change the Q3 number to 18%” or “Slow down the second scene” — and everything else stays exactly as it was. You can also adjust it by hand in the editor.
Who can use Claude Motion
| Plan | Claude Motion |
|---|---|
| Team | Beta, on by default |
| Enterprise | Beta, off by default — an owner turns it on in Organization settings › Artifacts |
| Free, Pro, Max | Not listed as of 2026-10-10 |
It isn’t sold separately: it counts toward your plan’s normal usage limits, and longer or more complex animations use more of that limit. Details in our Claude Motion pricing & access guide.
What Claude Motion can’t do
- No realistic footage or people. Anthropic says plainly that it doesn’t use a video generation model.
- Not on individual plans (yet). If you’re on Pro or Max, it won’t appear.
- Usage-metered. Complex animations eat into your plan’s limits faster than a normal chat.
Claude Motion vs. AI video generators
Tools that generate video from a prompt produce pixels: great for realistic shots, poor at keeping your exact numbers, brand fonts and wording. Claude Motion sits closer to motion graphics: precise, editable, on-brand — but it won’t film a scene for you. If your video is mostly words, numbers and screenshots, the Claude Motion approach is the better fit.

Claude Motion FAQ
Is Claude Motion an Anthropic product?
Yes. Claude Motion is an official Anthropic feature inside Claude, currently in beta on Team and Enterprise plans.
Does Claude Motion have an API?
Anthropic has not published a dedicated Claude Motion API. Developers who want programmatic animations typically use the Claude API or Claude Code with an open-source HTML/React video framework.
Can Claude Motion export MP4?
Yes. Open the animation, click Export and choose MP4.
Is Claude Motion the same as Claude Design?
No. Claude Motion is the animation feature, built from the Motion template in the Artifacts tab. Anthropic documents it separately from Claude Design, Docs and Dashboards.
